The Reality Of Living In Orlando, FL, & Why I Moved.

I lived in Orlando for over 25+ years before moving to Raleigh, NC. It was time for a change after living there for so long and having so much happen. Living in Orlando wasn't so bad up until a few years ago. The rent skyrocketed, hospital care downgraded, and it wasn't much to do other than the Beach. Truth is, when you're a long time local you don't go to the theme-parks alot despite what outsiders may think. I only been to Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and Wet N Wild once, which have since been torn down. I never been to Disney, shocking right? I know.

Another thing I noticed before moving and even going back to visit is Orlando turned money hungry and are invading neighborhoods in minority neighborhoods such as Tangelo Park for example, and are buying the houses and raising the rent. It's sad because Tangelo Park is a predominately black neighborhood where black people are actually thriving and the area is surrounding by good schools.

The pay is also another thing. Very low pay but with high expectations, and if you don't meet their requirements they can fire you without any questions asked like most of the south.

Hospital care have gone down as well, I must warn you if you go to the emergency room, get a copy of your medical records in a week. Give the doctor time to write up some lies. It's all about the money and painting people as crazy to get more money. They will tell you one thing to your face and put a complete different opinion in your medical records, which often leads to bad care when you have to follow up with a specialist. If you have Medicaid, good luck with finding a doctor too.

Last but not least, it started getting overcrowded with hurricane evacuees from Puerto Rico, and during my last visit in July it showed. Most people living in Orlando at this point is living with someone else and splitting the rent, have a high paying job, or living in a poverty stricken neighborhood to survive. Even trying to live in a hotel is hard at this point, so alot of things definitely changed. This is why moving to Raleigh, NC wasn't a bad idea, however it's starting to get overcrowded too and rent is going up. Next stop is possibly buying a house. I'll do a blog about that another time. But for right now moving out of Florida was a good financial move.
